I think that there has been some confusion or not a clear enough understanding of who and what the Paranormal Study and Investigative Research Organization (PSIRO) is about. When I created the organization, it was because after 4+ years of being in the paranormal field, I could not find a group or team that wanted to focus on the research aspect of the paranormal. To many groups, research is gathering historical data. Not to belittle historical data, but that alone does not correlate to any claimed phenomena, it is merely assumed, and the questions about what is being experienced remains unanswered. Many groups are quick to jump to conclusions, whether it be that demons are infesting a home or that Uncle Willy is back and wanting to communicate. I could not see myself following that path any longer as there were just too many things that did not make sense.
I set out to create a new organization, with new goals, and new ideas. The premise of PSIRO was to not only advance the research being done in the community, but to also openly discuss and scrutinize our own methods and practices while in the field and lab by sharing and networking with other like minded groups and individuals. It is basically the first step in a peer review process. We designed and implemented an evidence analysis section, not for the purpose of being the know-all-be-all when it comes to evidence, but rather to offer critical reviews and scrutiny over said data and evidence, as well as to allow the paranormal community to discuss and share their opinions openly about the evidence and data as well, including our analysis methodologies. The evidence analysis section is currently not about determining what is and is not paranormal, but rather exploring and identifying needs for control, answering and even posing questions, and really just offering an open peer review. One of the few of its kind.
PSIRO also conducts research and case studies of its own. Many of which are still in the planning stages, currently only one online based case study has been published and is actively accepting participation. After a year of development (and continued development), the PSIRO is starting to gather networks from across the world. While there is a sense of pride with groups and individuals coming together and sharing their thoughts, ideas, opinions, etc both online and off, the excitement for the direction that the group is moving is far greater.
The PSIRO has no intentions of withholding information or data when it comes to research and case studies, as most groups tend to censor much of their information for fear that other groups may steal their work. All information is planned to be made public for review by the paranormal community and to be shared. We are even encouraging other organizations to do the same or at least submit their research here for review. It will be a process that over time will gain acknowledgment and possibly even acceptance amongst our peers.
Seeing a lack of understanding and misinformation on many aspects of research and even equipment, we are also working on a "Continued Education" section that we hope will have multiple contributions by outside organizations as well as PSIRO itself. Currently our first set of articles featuring "Photography and the Paranormal 101" has been getting great review. Since there is a demand and need for such articles, we will be publishing more in the coming months and eventually creating an in-depth section of educational materials. This is, of course, a time consuming task and a very large one at that. If you wish to contribute, please feel free to offer your suggestions via email using our contact information at the top of the site.
Finally, we have been gaining more and more respect from other groups and organizations, and I am truly happy to see this. I am putting a lot of hard work into creating something better and hopefully will see the advancement of paranormal research being spread by many others. I do not and will not ever demand respect. Respect, in my opinion, is earned...and I plan to earn the respect by continuing to do what I believe this field needs, along with the help of the rest of the paranormal research community, if you so wish to join me.
