About the PSIRO

The Paranormal Study and Investigative Research Organization was founded by Christopher "Topher" M. Young in 2009, after Young spent the better part of 4 years with another paranormal society. When PSIRO was being created, Young wanted to create an organization dedicated to offering critical research towards the paranormal after noticing a lack of structure and organization by many other claimed paranormal research organizations and investigators.

Once erected, the PSIRO announced its goals and plans for the future of the organization and the paranormal community, which was met with skepticism and even negative feedback. Regardless, Topher continued to build and organize the PSIRO to the degree that he felt was important and missing in the paranormal research community. After a year of planning and building, the PSIRO was still under way, but beginning to gain respect and admiration by fellow researchers and like-minded individuals. Other began seeing the promise of something substantial.

In 2010, the organization developed the Advocates for Science in Paranormal Research and Study (ASPRS), a sub-organization that, as the name states, advocates to implement higher degrees of scientific methodology in paranormal research and study. By devising and creating strict guidelines and standard research protocols for the main organization and its affiliates, the ASPRS hopes to help adopt a general guidelines and standards of practice utilized by the paranormal research community.

The PSIRO has its sights on setting the bar for paranormal research and study with the help and aid of other science based research organizations in the paranormal community. Along with the help of the ASPRS, the organization continues to develop an online peer review system for critical review and analysis of case studies, field, and laboratory research conducted in the paranormal research community.

THE ROLE & SCOPE OF THE PSIRO & ITS AFFILIATE GROUPS
The purposes of the research programs administered by the PSIRO are to:

a) Investigate claims of paranormal and supernatural phenomena that will lead to a better understanding of the natural and potential supernatural world.

b) Develop the research capacity of the paranormal research field by supporting the education and training of serious minded investigators.

c) Conduct precise and ethical research experiments pertaining to the alleged paranormal to offer collective data on theories and hypothesis regarding paranormal phenomena.

The PSIRO is interested in high quality scientific investigation and limits its approval of applications to those projects that have reasonable promise of revealing important scientific knowledge. Investigators and organizations are encouraged to identify areas that need exploration under paranormal auspices and to seek out the best possible application of their own talents, skills, and interests to that exploration.
